Bike to the Beach is about overcoming challenges, making an impact, and having fun. This year we face a unique challenge: Our community’s needs are greater than ever in the wake of Hurricane Harvey.
But, like the city, we are #HoustonStrong. This year will empower the recovery of our partner organizations, unify the IDD community, and include people of all abilities in the fun of our events. With that in mind, we have a few exciting changes to our event to amplify our impact towards these goals:
Our Indoor Virtual Rides
In the spirit of inclusion, we are now offering indoor cycling experiences the week leading up to the Bike to the Beach event. In partnership with Pursuit and The Center, we are opening their spin studio, “Mission Control,” for 50 spin sessions for people of all abilities. Register for a time as an individual or reserve a whole session for your company or team.
A generous donor has offered to make $100 contribution, up to $10,000, for every client of a partner organization that participates. Come for a great workout, for a great time, and for a great cause! [Click here to registier for a class]
Funds are critical to the areas recovery efforts, but so are helpful hands and caring hearts. We are a community that is here to support Houston, so let us know if you have been hit particularly hard and the minimum may be too challenging this year or if you know organizations that are looking for a few extra hands. (Send photos to [email protected]
This year we are reducing the fundraising minimum by $100 for anyone that volunteers in local service and recovery efforts. Simply send us a photo of your work with either IDD clients or rebuilding Houston and we will adjust your minimum goal.
Early Registration Extended
We realize people have had a lot on their plate and that few have had time at their computers as many have been out and active supporting the community. As a result, we are extending early registration discounts until the end of the month. We hope this give everyone time take advantage of the discounted price without feeling pressured for time as they do their best to settle back into new norms.
THANK YOU for supporting our community. We know this has been a challenging time for all and we continue to be inspired by the outward looking offers of support that have streamed in. We hope the recovery is making progress for you all. Please let us know how we can better facilitate supporting Houston.
