Autism Speaks 5K Run and 1K Walk

7:30 AM Pre-race warm-up
8:00 AM 5K road race begins
8:07 AM Stroller derby begins
8:10 AM 1-Mile walk begins
Where: Potomac Library Parking Lot, 10101 Glenolden Dr., Potomac, MD 20854
Take exit 39 off of I-495 at River Road and head towards Potomac. The library is at the intersection of Glenolden and Counselman Dr., both of which will be blocked for the race. This intersection is one short block from the northeast corner of Falls and River Roads.
Parking is available in surrounding neighborhoods
Post-race festivities: After the race enjoy food and music. Random prizes will be awarded. Help us start the 4th of July with an early celebration!
Registration information: (online registration will close at 5PM EST July 2)
Entry Fee for 5K Run and 1-Mile Walk:
$35 for Adults until May 31st
$40 for Adults June 1st – July3rd
$45 for Adults on July 4th
$20 for Children (14 and under) at all times

Virtual 5K: Can’t be with us in Potomac, MD on July 4th? Participate in our “Virtual 5K” (formally known as our Run Anywhere) wherever you might be! Register through the website and select the “Virtual 5K” option, and get your performance shirt in advance to wear as you join us virtually on July 4th. You can run and raise money for autism anywhere.
The Virtual 5K deadline to receive the shirt before July 4th is June 17th; Virtual 5K runners who register after this date will receive their shirt after July 4th.
Prohibited: For safety reasons, the following are not permitted in the 5K: wheelchairs, strollers, baby joggers, skates, pets, or headsets.
Course: The 5K course runs through beautiful shady residential neighborhood streets with a long downhill finish. Water will be available at the start, half way and at the finish. Split times will be called or displayed at each mile. The course is certified. No strollers, baby joggers etc. are allowed on the 5K course. Strollers and baby joggers will be permitted for the 1mile walk. CLICK HERE to view a map of the course.
1 Mile Walk: The 1 mile walk will begin shortly after the 5K start. Families are encouraged to participate.
Timing & Scoring: Provided by RACE DC Timing using disposable B-tag timing technology from Chronotrack Race Systems – Bib Tab (B-Tag) Please CLICK HERE for instructions on how to wear the bib properly to get the most accurate timing.
Timing: Age group winners will be determined by NET time. Each participant must pick up his/her own Bib Tab. Those running with a bib assigned to another will be disqualified. Production of awards and finish times onsite via printed results and live results via computer kiosks (managed and provided by Race DC). Finish line video available for each runner through Race DC post-race.
Results: Unofficial results will be posted at the race site as they become available. Final results will be posted on the homepage of the Autism Speaks 5K by July 6th.
Awards: Awards to top five overall male and female runners, top male and female Masters (40 and older) winners, and to top three male and female finishers in the following age groups: 13 and under, 14-19, 20-24, 25-29, 30-34, 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, 60-64, 65-69, 70-74, 75-79, 80 and over. No duplications. Winners must be present to receive awards.
**Race times will be posted at race site by NET TIME making it easy to find. Open and Masters awards will be determined by gun time. Age group awards will be determined by net time.
There will be no complimentary or discounted entries for runners.
Prizes will also be given out to winners in the following categories:
• Largest Team (# of registrants)
• Team Who Fundraises the Most (Overall)
• Top Child Fundraiser
• Most Patriotic
• Top School Team (dollars raised)
• Top Swim Team (dollars raised)
• Best Team T-shirt
• Greatest Distance Traveled by an individual

Teams: Teams take on the spirit of the day as family, friends and coworkers join together to have fun and help find a cure for autism. Organize friends and family, your school, place of worship, community organization, or get your company involved. Choose a team name and captain or co-captains. Each team member (adult and child) is asked to set a minimum fundraising goal of $100 but we always encourage more! Make checks payable to Autism Speaks. All participants are encouraged to collect their donations in advance and bring them with donation forms on July 4th.
MCSL Pool Teams: For the 7th year in a row, the pool team that raises the most money will win a pizza party donated by Potomac Pizza.* Register your team today (runners & walkers). Start fundraising TODAY!! *(15 pizzas will be donated by Potomac Pizza to the winning swim team for a pizza party. These must be picked up and consumed elsewhere)
Public & Private School Team: The school team that raises the most money will win a special prize (TBD).
