We are excited to be working with our friends at Bike and Roll again this year, the New York area’s largest bike rental company. Last year bike rental setup took a lot of time and effort the morning of the ride, almost causing a few riders to have to leave late. In order to make sure everyone takes off with ease (and on time) this year, we are having bike pickup the night before the ride, and opening bike rental setup at 3:30 AM on Friday for those who can’t make it to packet-pickup.
Bike pickup will occur at Sid’s Bikes West, at 19th Street and 7th Avenue and will go from 6:00 pm-8:00 pm. Please let us know if you will not be able to make it to Sid’s to get your bike set up, so that we can account for how many bikes we will need to set up the morning of the ride.

If you cannot make it to Sid’s, we will have your bikes for you at the starting line. In order to encourage people to be ready to ride with plenty of time, anyone picking their bike up the morning of the ride will be required to show up BEFORE 4:00 AM. This will ensure that we have plenty of time to account for any bike setup issues you may have, and ensure your bike is properly set up for you as a rider.
Anyone renting a bike that arrives later than 4:00 AM will be required to pay a $20.00 late fee (which will be made as a donation) to pick-up the bike. This is not an attempt to squeeze more money out of you, just some added motivation to make sure everyone starts on time.
Please remember, anyone not checked in to ride by 4:30 AM will not be allowed to start on the initial leg of the ride, and will have to be transported to the first rest stop by one of our volunteer chase cars.
During the ride, our chase cars will be there to assist you with any issues you may have with your bike. Do not hesitate to ask our team for some help if something on your bike doesn’t seem to be set up properly. They will be working a very long day, so please be patient with them if they are helping another rider at the time.
Also, please remember that until you return your bike to a Bike to the Beach team member, that you are responsible for it. Please make sure you lock the bike up when you are not present, or have someone you know keep an eye on the bikes.
