Relays

New to B2B this year

Starting this year, Bike to the Beach (B2B) is offering a relay option for both its Washington, DC, and New York rides. There are a maximum of two riders per relay team.
Each team must provide a chase vehicle to manage their relay exchange. One person will drive the chase vehicle while the other rides a bike. At the exchange, the person biking will take control of the chase vehicle and the driver will bike the remaining portion of the ride. Each team is only allowed one relay exchange.

NYC Ride  – An option to switch at Rest Stop #3 is at mile 50 and less than a mile from the Massapequa Park LIRR station and would be the best place for riders to switch.

DC Ride  - An option to switch at the Chesapeake Bay bridge transition point (an approximate 30-mile/70-mile split).

Each team must provide a chase vehicle to manage their relay exchange. One person will drive the chase vehicle while the other rides a bike. At the exchange, the person biking will take control of the chase vehicle and the driver will bike the remaining portion of the ride. Each team is only allowed one relay exchange
If you are interested in riding Bike to he Beach in a relay team, choose "relay team" from the drop down menu during registration and list the name of the person you are teaming up with further down on the form. Each rider will receive all of the benefits of riding, including the custom B2B riding jersey and ride support.

Individual Ride

Our 100-mile Bike to the Beach Century is a charity ride that is designed to challenge and test its participants. However, it is also a ride that is designed to be a perfect introduction to long-distance biking or a great training ride for experienced biking enthusiasts.

Over the last 10 years, our Century Ride became the longest bike ride for a majority of our riders We have also been joined by triathletes, semi-professional bikers, and biking teams.

We have ridden with bikers or all ages, and from all walks of life:

  • Former high school or college athletes looking to get back into shape,
  • Retired professional athletes mastering a new sport,
  • War veterans tacking another challenge,
  • Recovering runners looking for low-impact distance events,
  • Parents, uncles and siblings racing in inter-family competition …

But many of our riders have been those looking to accept a physical challenge in support of a loved one who deals with the challenges of Autism every day. Our youngest and one of our most brave riders to date is a 14-year old teenager who was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome.

Whatever you story may be, we welcome you and challenge you to bike to the beach!
