DC Training

Congratulations on joining B2B.

Let us just say how much you are going to enjoy the ride this year.

One of the beauties of Bike to the Beach is that we believe anyone can do it, but it is definitely challenging. It is important that riders of all levels train throughout the summer months to ensure that they are prepared for the 100 mile journey. Riders are encouraged to train as much as possible throughout the season. The day of the ride participants are expected to be able to maintain a 15 mph pace for the majority of the ride. This is important so that our buses and bike shuttles can stay on schedule and so that our rest stops can be properly planned.

Over the course of the summer there will be many Bike to the Beach events that you can attend to get a better idea of where you should be in your training. We will have group training opportunities including group rides leaving from Georgetown, a planned “sun up to sun down” event at Hains Point in East Potomac Park, and many chances to meet other riders to train with at our Happy Hours.

The rides are a great way to get some exercise, get in shape for Bike to the Beach, and meet some of the other Bike to the Beachers! Take a casual ride, race against your friends or burn calories on your daily commute: it’s up to you! Like all things B2B, the bottom-line is fun!
