About The Ride

This year's ride will start on Friday, August 1 at 4:00AM, departing from New Carrolton, MD.

On August 1st, 2008, B2B will host its annual 120-mile Bike to the Beach, charity bike ride, from Washington DC to Bethany Beach DE. The routes will take members over the hilly back roads to Annapolis and the Chesapeake Bay Bridge. After a short bus ride, over the bridge the riders will re-mount their bicycles for a ride on route 404 that will take them past farms, through small towns of Eastern Maryland, and across the state of Delaware. The ride will terminate at the Bethany Beach, DE boardwalk, where riders will be met by a welcoming party. Bike to the Beach will Provide a bus home for riders after the Charity Ride. Details will be posted soon.

All proceeds from the charity ride will be donated to our non-profit partner Autism Speaks, a 501(c)3 nonprofit that is the world's largest autism advocacy organization (EIN 20-2329938).

Although 2008 will be the first Bike to the Beach, Inc. charity ride for the nascent organization, this will be the eighth year for most of the board of directors completing the trek. Over the years, participation in the annual bike ride to the beach has grown in size and notoriety. Our members and each rider who has completed the ride has become a biking enthusiasts committed to encouraging the use of bicycles for many reasons including promoting public service.

The Route:

The annual Bike to the Beach charity ride is designed for moderate to experienced bike riders. The ride starts at the New Carrollton Metro Station and terminates at the Boardwalk in the town of Bethany Beach, DE The ride can be divided into 4 distinct legs.

Bike to the Beach would like to extend our thanks and congratulations to the 21 riders and half a dozen support-staff members who took part in the first ever Bike to the Beach fundraiser, held August 3rd, 2007. Through your dedication of time and hard work, we were able to touch lives across the country, by raising awareness and almost $25,000 for Cure Autism Now.
