Bike to the Beach's 1973 VW Bus
In May 2007, Bike to the Beach received this 1973 Volkswagon Transporter as a donation to serve as for a support vehicle to help with the transportation of water, supplies, and, of course, bikes. Our members and volunteers helped B2B restore the bus to "like new" condition, and the bus has become the official B2B flagship AND has becoming an instrumental means of raising awareness for B2B and our charitable partner, Autism Speaks, the world's largest Autism Awareness Advocacy Organization.
B2B not only raises awareness and funds for Autism, but also sets an example, encouraging people change the world by "Going Green." A large part of our organization's mission is promoting eco-friendly means of transportation.
B2B's mission is two-fold: charity work AND environmental responsibility. As the Bus has evolved into a centerpiece of our organization, she needs to reflect both sides of the B2B mission.
We are currently looking for partners and volunteers to help transform our Bus into an environmentally neutral vehicle, powered by clean fuel, batteries, or other Green technology.
